IMPHAL, April 9: A team of Imphal West Commando of City Unit picked up 28 people for verification by City Police in a search operation today at Thangal Bazar Areas at two different spots.
The search operation lead by OC City Unit Commando, G Thaingampou was organised as part of security measure in around the bazaar areas to avoid any untoward incident however.
The first operation took place at Kalibadi areas of Thangal Bazaar around 12:30 pm wherein altogether 15 persons who did not have identification cards were picked up for further verification. In addition, another 13 person were picked up from Thangal Bazaar Street at around 1.10 pm and were sent for further verification at City Police.
Today`™s surprised combing operation lasted for more than 2 hours, where the personal of City Commando verified each person`™s personal Identities along with frisking of body and personal items.
Mention may be made, that such surprise search operations have been frequently conducted in bazaar areas since serial blasts took place, to stop such untoward incidents from occurring again.
