IMPHAL, April 12: A Joint Action Committee (JAC) has been formed by locals of Salungpham village, Heirok Kendra in Thoubal district to look into the encroachment of land belonging to playground of Salungpham Girls LP School by an individual of the locality.
Upon its formation, the JAC convened a public meeting on Thursday and adopted certain resolutions in connection with the land encroachment, said a press release issued by the JAC.
Following the failure of the school committee to take up necessary steps to stop encroachment of land of the school further despite rounds of meeting held between the school authority and locals, the meeting resolved to fence the school playground and bar entry of people into it till an amicable solution is brought to the matter.
It also resolved to apprise the authorities concerned about the encroachment of land and aware the public about the matter through the media.
If the managing committee of the school fails to come up with an amicable solution to the matter before April 20, the school playground will be fenced and reserve for public, the JAC cautioned.
