IMPHAL, April 2: Naga Women`™s Union (NWU) expressed its deepest grief at the demise of the first woman Member of Parliament (MP) from Nagaland and one of the foremost women Naga leaders, Rano Mese Shaiza who expired on April 1 at the age of 81.
`Rano Shaiza was a good wife and mother to her children at the same time she was amongst the pioneering Naga woman politician, social activist, and educationist,` a release of NWU said.
`She was also a peacemaker who took part in brokering peace at the first Indo-Naga talk, a reformer who pleaded for the freedom of religion and advocated for peaceful solution to the Indo-Naga Political problem,` it further said.
`NWU conveys our deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family and pray to our Living God that He may comfort them and grant peace during this difficult time of grief and loss,` the release added.
