IMPHAL, April 3: Under the aegis of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) which is spearheading the demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit System or any similar law to monitor influx of non-locals into the state, a sit-in-protest was organized at Wabagai today to press the government to implement such law without any further delay.
Informing this in a press release, A Ananda Meetei, convener, publicity of JCILPS said that during the gathering, locals of Lumlangdong unanimously adopted certain resolutions in connection with the safeguard of the indigenous people from the incessant entry of outsiders into the state.
It resolved to bar outsiders from entering Wabagai area and extend full support to any step taken up by JCILPS meant for implementation of ILPS or similar law.
Co-conveners of JCILPS namely Arjun, Somorendro, BK Moirangcha and conveners of JCILPS Women`™s Wing N Ngangbi Leima and Tharaksana who were present at the protest demonstration spoke on topics related to safeguarding of the indigenous people.
