IMPHAL, April 13: A combined team of Bishnupur District Police Commando and 2/5 GR has conducted a search operation at Toubul village on April 9.
According to a release of the PRO, during the search operation one active cadre of UNLF organization was arrested. The arrested person was identified as Konjengbam Hemba Singh alias Angamba alias Inaoba, 40, son of (l) K. Tombi Singh of Moirang Konjengbam Maning Leikai A/P Thoubal Awang Leikai. A case has been registered at Bishnupur Police Station and investigation is going on, it said.
In another press release, a team of Imphal east District Police Commando has conducted a search operation around Khurai Lamlong Bazar on April 10 regarding the presence of some anti-social elements by a team of Imphal East District Police Commando.
During the search operation, an active cadre of UNLF organisation, namely, Moiranthem Sanathoi Meetei, 37, son of (l) M. Gulamchat Meetei of Taretkhul Maning Leikai was arrested. Investigation revealed that Sanathoi had demanded a huge amount of money from private transport agencies, government offices and contractors, etc, it said.
A case has been registered at Porompat Police Station and investigation is going on, it said.
A team of Imphal East District Police Commando has conducted frisking and checking around Hatta on April 10.
According to a release of the PRO, two active members of PREPAK (PRO) identified as Md. Abujar Khan alais Abjar, 22, son of (l) Md. Abubakar Khan of Moreh Ward No. 5 A/P Top Khongnangkhong and Md. Wahidur Rahaman alias Alam, 21, son of Md. Nashir of Sora Maning Leikai were arrested. Investigation revealed that they had extorted a huge amount of money from public for raising party fund and also recruited many youths to PREPAK (Pro) outfit. A case has been registered at Porompat Police Station and investigation is going on, it said.
In another release of the PRO, a team of Imphal East District Police Commando on April 12 rushed to Kiymagei Leikai and arrested one OGW of PLA/RPF, namely Khuraijam Meethoiba Meetei, son of (l) Kh. Kulla Meetei of Kiyamgei Maning Leikai from his residence.
On follow up action, another OGW of PLA/RPF, namely Thongam Ipi Singh, 57 of Thongju Part-1, Pheijaleitong was also arrested from his residence. A case has been registered at Irilbung Police Station and investigation is going on, it said.
