IMPHAL, May 21: The All Manipur Bar Association (AMBA) has unanimously resolved to postpone its 2015-17 election scheduled earlier on May 23 in moral support to the organisations seeking government intervention on the issue of land encroachment at Dzuko Valley from the Nagaland side.

Considering the gravity of the public issue, AMBA has resolved to hold the election on May 25.

This was stated by AMBA president Khaidem Mani during a press conference held today at the office premise of the AMBA.

He further stated that during the meeting, the members present thoroughly discussed the general strike/Manipur Bandh called by the Mao Council being supported subsequently by several civil organizations as a mark of protest against the State government`™s silence.

He said it would be in the best interest of the entire people of Manipur for the government to protect the territorial integrity of the State and for the Bar association to extend full support to such a genuine cause, he added.
