IMPHAL, May 8: The present electoral system is not at all democratic and it is full of violence remarked Secretary Communist Party Council, Manipur State Council Dr M Nara during a press meet today held at Irawat Bhavan, Imphal.

He continued saying that aspiring candidates are threatened and for the reason CPI Manipur State Council would not sacrifice any of their comrades in the ongoing cutthroat electoral system and added that election today means money and power.

He said that if the electoral system remained free and fair then CPI would have set up candidates for the upcoming ADC election 2015.

In the current ADC election, no one from the CPI will participate, and this will continue until the electoral system if reformed, he added.

He claimed that previously CPI had held ADC seats in the past but unfortunately the current electoral system allows violence and therefore the CPI is avoiding the ADC election 2015 though many have come up for nomination filing. He said that CPI Manipur State Council, has about 500 party members in the hill districts and further lauded their comrades saying that not a single CPI member have ditched the party for the sake of the election.

Later he said that on May 14, a nationwide agitation will be held to oppose the BJP led NDA Government`™s plan for introducing the infamous `land acquisition bill`™.

He said that the bill is against the welfare of farmers in particular.
