IMPHAL, May 21: After three members of Manipur People`™s Party (MPP) filed a case challenging their suspension from the working committee of the party by an order of its president N Sovakiran for six years, the party president who is the respondent of the case filed affidavit in the court today.
The case was filed in the court of Civil Judge, Senior Division No 1 and was admitted under Judicial Misc Case No 259 of 2015 Ref Original (Declaratory) Suit No 43 of 2015.
The three petitioners of the case have been identified as L Apabi Singh, N Singhajit and AK Sanaton. According to them, their suspension is against the party constitution.
Along with admitting the case, the party president was asked to appear before the court on April 24 last with relevant documents.
However, in place of him, counsel of the respondent appeared before the court where he pleaded to give more time to his client so as to enable him to prepare relevant documents in connection with the case.
The court after receiving the affidavit filed by the respondent fixed date for next hearing of the case on June 9.
