Not done intentionally, KRF clarifies on killing of youths

KANGPOKPI, May 13: Claiming hands on the killing of two youths in the course of an interrogation, Kuki Revolutionary Front (KRF), a SoO signatory under United People`™s Front (UPF) today clarified that the two victims were members of KCP (Nando) faction and that they were not killed intentionally.

Speaking to media persons, Lincoln Kuki, Public Relation Officer of the outfit maintained that on May 10 Abung , 20; Premananda, 20 and Bishal, 13 were apprehended on suspicious ground and put into interrogation under the custody of the outfit.

Earlier the trio had stated that they were laborers engaged in the construction work of Mapao Christian School and stay in near the new school building construction site at Mapao Khullen Family line but later Bishal revealed all the facts which were recorded, said the PRO.

Unfortunately, during the course of the interrogation, Abung and Premananda died but their death was not intentional clarified the outfit PRO, adding that the outfit never indulged in communal activities which could harm the peaceful coexistence amongst the people of different communities.

He continued that Bishal had revealed that Abung and Premananda were members of KCP (Nando) faction and also disclosed that Abung was a Corporal while Premananda was a Lance Corporal of the outfit.

Bishal claimed that he was compelled to join the outfit two/three days back as the outfit had warned him of ending his life if he did not comply with the call, he said, adding that Bishal also admitted that his family members have no knowledge regarding his joining of the outfit since the outfit threatened him not to disclose.

Bishal further disclosed that the duo were in possession of one big bag containing huge arms and ammunition including explosive device which they handed over to one unidentified Nepali man and again warned him not to disclose to anyone.

The outfit PRO also said that cadres of KCP have frequently resorted to firing and extortion in Mapao area is well known by the public as well as the security forces.

Lincoln Kuki urged the people not take the issue in a communal way since it was not done with intent to kill them while conveying the outfit condolence to the bereaved families and relatives.

He further appealed particularly the Meetei community not to resort to any communal activities which can perturb the prevailing peaceful coexistence.

Meanwhile, KRF also condemned the highhandedness of the Assam Rifles and state security forces in apprehending its 7 cadres in connection with the unfortunate death of Abung and Premananda while slamming the security forces for using communal tone.

The outfit leader also appealed the government to release its apprehended cadres who have no connection with the incident at the earliest.
