IMPHAL, May 20: The Thadou Students`™ Association has said that it condemned the murder of M. Dayananda and M. Permananda Singh and the physical assault on a boy a Thingsat village under Saikul police station in Sardar Hills on May 10 by an SoO signatory group Kuki Revolutionary Front (KRF) who claimed it was unintentional killing during an interrogation and that the duo were cadres of valley based militant group, Kangleipak Communist Party.
A press release of the association has said that it also strongly condemned the killing of the innocent Thadou tribal man, Semkhongam Haokip, a truck driver, the brutal attack of the two helpers by the mob in Patsoi area in Imphal West district and the burning down of vehicles they were travelling on, in what is believed to be a retaliatory attack following the murder of the two men by the KRF cadres.
The association has said that although swift action was taken up by the government and arrested a number of KRF cadres involved in the murder of the two labourers, the government has yet to make any attempts in arresting the culprits involved in the killing of Semkhongam, which has raised a question mark on it.
In view of the situation, the association has submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Manipur, Syed Ahmed demanding same treatment according to the law of the land, equal rights and value of lives as a citizen and properties in both incidents and the same law be applied in the processes of justice delivery, immediate order of high level enquiry on the death of Semkhogam Haokip and attack on the two others and immediate arrest of culprits and security personnel on duty at time of Patsoi incident, adequate compensation and assistance be given to all victims of crime of Thingsat and Patsoi incidents equally, adequate financial and material assistance be given to rebuild the church at Patsoi that was burnt down and appropriate action taken against perpetrators of the crime according to the law of the land, to take serious and measurable steps to take forward peace process by initiating political talks with SoO groups, taking into confidence the SoO signatory groups and the community and to implement provision
of the 6th schedule of the Constitution of India in all the hill areas of Manipur for permanent solution to the plights of the tribal communities of Manipur, it said.
The TSA-GHQ has stated that if the government fail to act on the points of demand and the already tense situation get out of control, the government will be held responsible for it, it said.
