VDF assn suspends stir, to resume duty from today

IMPHAL, May 8: All Manipur VDF Welfare Association has suspended its cease work strike launched in pursuit of their demands following an agreement reached with the government today.

Announcing this to IFP on phone, a spokesperson of the association declared that VDF personnel will be resuming normal duties in their respective posts from tomorrow.

He said that representatives of the association and All Manipur VDF Guardians`™ Association met with Principal Secretary (Home) today and after meeting with the Principal Secretary, the representatives also met the DGP at the Police Headquarters during which an agreement acceptable to both the sides was reached.

According to the agreement, three VDF personnel namely Laikangbam Somorjit Singh (Imphal East), Chingakham Maikel Singh (Nambol) and Yendrembam Chinglen Singh (Nambol) who were suspended and jailed for taking part in the agitation launched by the association will be released unconditionally.

Payment of salary for those VDF personnel who were absent in the duty during the strike be given without counting the number of day of absent; conversion of the office memorandum No E/26/35/2015-PHQ (ADM)/2839 submitted by the DGP to the Principal Secretary (Home) ON April 1 into reality; inscribe of a sign on the cap of VDF personnel so as to differentiate from the uniform of other police forces and meeting between the VDF personnel and DGP on Monday of every month are of the points included in the agreement.
