IMPHAL, May 10: In a fateful incident, a VDF jawan died when a two-wheeler he was driving hit an electric post while chasing a passenger vehicle at Tellipati under Porompat Police Station, Imphal East today around 12.30 pm.
The deceased has been identified as Wareppam Boicha Singh, 27 son of W Nilbir Singh of Bamon Leikai.
According to reports, W Boicha along with several other VDF personnel was on duty at Telipati Mandir. There, they tried to stop a passenger vehicle coming from Lamlong Bazar for checking but the vehicle drove away without paying heed to the call.
Then, W Boicha taking a two-wheeler which they stopped for checking chased the passenger vehicle. He was killed when he hit an electric post while following the vehicle.
