IMPHAL, May 14: If the Congress knew BJP leaders collected Rs. 2 crores from 20 contractors on false promises of work order for the construction of Sport University, why has the Government still not booked the accused person on corruption charges, asked Th Chaoba President BJP Manipur Pradesh.
He further questioned the Congress government as to who took Rs. 5 lakh each from 2000 constables aspirants for recruitment and when will the result of the selection be out. The people of Manipur are eagerly awaiting the results and some have sold their houses and lands to pay for the promised jobs, he said.
Replying to allegations made by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam in a flag hoisting function held at K Phoipi of 11-Motbung ADC segment today, Chaoba asked if the Home Minister knew of the corruption practised in full details, and total amount collected by BJP leaders, why has be not booked accused persons till today.
He said that the central government has sanction Rs. 100 crores for the National Sports University in Manipur but till today lands for the construction has still not be allotted by State government. The responsibility for the one year delayed of the construction should fix responsible on the Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi and Gaikhangam Deputy Chief Minister, he charged.
National Sports University construction work order allotment is under Central government purview, so how would BJP leaders handle the process, he further asked.
`Gaikhangam`™s allegation is a baseless and unfounded. Instead they try to hide the corrupt practice of money exchanged on direct land purchase at Yaithibi Loukon at Thoubal,` he counter charged.
If the sport university is shifted to another State, Okram Ibobi and Gaikhangam will have to bear the whole responsibility, alleged Chaoba.
What type of government is the Congress government if it cannot even complete land acquisition for the construction after one year? Chaoba further questioned.
Clarifying the charge of the BJP being anti-Christen party, Chaoba said that till today Congress government has not contributed a single coin for construction of Christen Churches in history of India. But the BJP has already granted Rs. 2 crores for Christen Church construction at Delhi during Atul Bihari Bajpayee`™s short tenure, he claimed.
Sangliana DGP of Karnataka who is from Churchandpur was elected as MP of Karnataka on BJP ticket after retirement from service, he said.
He said the ensuing ADC election is a right opportunity to teach the Congress a lesson and he sought the cooperation of all voters.
