IMPHAL, June 30: BJP Manipur Pradesh today lamented Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang that the issue of land encroachment at Dzuko Valley should be decided according to the Naga customary law between the Mao and Angami communities.

At the same time, the BJP, Manipur Pradesh has also asked for the State government to make its stand on the issue clear.

Speaking to media persons during a press conference held at their office, BJP, Manipur spokesperson RK Shivchandra said the Nagaland CM`™s statement is unfortunate.

He continued that Congress government has also done nothing in the last 13 years of its governance in Manipur on the boundary issue.

What has the State government done for the 300 or so students of Mao community who have reportedly left Kohima following assaults on the community by Southern Angami Peoples`™ Organisation, he asked?

He continued the issue of boundary dispute between the two States is dated long back and in 1985, people of Angami had detained some people of the State for using the path in Viswema to go to Dzuko.

Why has the State government not provided any proper road inside the State`™s jurisdiction leading to Dzuko valley, he asked?

A boundary demarcation of the two States was finalised in 1972, he said.

It is time for the government to take a concrete decision on the issue and fight the encroachers of the land, he said.

BJP, Manipur Pradesh general secretary Administration also said that the party stand firmly to protect the Dzuko Valley.
