Elected MDC member from Kongsai community honour

IMPHAL, June 19: Five elected District Council of Manipur members and two elected members of the NC Hill Autonomous Council, Assam from the Khongsai tribe were felicitated today by the Khongsai Inpi at Langol.

The function was presided by ex-minister Holkholet Khongsai.

However, the two NC Council members from Assam failed to attend their felicitation programme.

In the recent ADC election there were 20 candidates from the Khongsai community of which five were successful, said Khongsai Inpi president Ch Ajang Khongsai.

He said the Manipur government has authorized formation of local self government in the hill district.

He said today`™s function is to provide a platform to the elected leaders to have direct contact with the people and share their ideas with the community.

He said that the advisors of the Inpi will also give suggestions to the young elected leaders.

He said that today five elected MDCC members are Misao Thangjakam Khongsai (Congress) of Saikul BCC; Lianzo Pumtulthang Khongsai (Congress) of Sangaikot BCC; L Zamkholet Khongsai (Ind) of Zalingbung Ukhrul BCC, Puruolte Lalditsang Khongsai (Ind) of Senbon BCC Tipaimukh and Lt Seilenmang Khongsai (BJP) of Khousabung Churchandpur respectively.

The two elected North Cachar Hills Autonomous Coucil elected members are Changsan Hen Samual Khongsai presently holding the post of IPR, Irrigation and Planning and A Lenthang Khongsai NC Hill AC member.
