LAMKA, June 15: The All Tribal Students`™ Union, Manipur led by Muan Tombing supported by the Churachandpur District Students`™ Union closed down two government higher secondary schools in Churachandpur this morning.
The two schools are Rangkai Govt Higher Secondary School at Rangkai and Vungzagen Government Higher Secondary School located at Mata Village.
ATSUM has been making several demands to the government including regularization of 705 contract lecturers and had already reminded the government to complete the special formalities of regularization before the commencement of the academic session 2015-16.
Meanwhile, speaking to this IFP correspondent, a government school lecturer appointed through DPC, on condition of anonymity said although some of the contract lecturers who were selected through proper DPC were competent to teach, there are also many who are not competent enough to teach and the government should hold fresh DPC to fill up the required post for the benefit of the student community.
