Militant killed in ambush identified as NSCN-K cadre

DIMAPUR, JUNE 5 (NNN): One NSCN-K cadre, in the rank of a `major`, was killed during the ambush on a convoy of 6th Dogra Infantry Regiment on Thursday in Manipur`™s Chandel district bordering Myanmar. The slain cadre, `major` Rajanglung, has been confirmed as the `commander of elite strike unit` that attacked the soldiers and left at least 18 dead.

A press note from the NSCN (K) said the chairman and president of NSCN/GPRN and also the supreme commander, People`™s Army of Nagaland, SS Khaplang and all ranks and files while hailing the supreme sacrifice and martyrdom of the commander of elite strike unit Maj.Raja who proudly forfeited his life in the battle field on June 4 grieves the departure and extends heartfelt condolence to the wife, children, parents and families of the deceased.`

It further said that on the day of `glorious victory against 6th Dogra Regiment`™, Maj.Raja exhibited exemplary feat of commandeering bravery, ensured safety of all his comrades, the last remaining one on the field assessing the day`™s outcome when several shells from the reinforcing Dogras exploded and slain the warrior.

`Maj.Raja has earned the distinction as one unique fearless patriot winning the respect and admiration of both friends and foes alike. All through his military career since teenage till his martyrdom, his achievements are enviable and his shall records shall ever be adorned with laurels and homage,` the NSCN(K) added.
