IMPHAL, June 14: The Manipur Sahitya Parishad Meghalaya (MSPM) has felicitated Aribam Syam Sharma, noted filmmaker of Manipur for being the first recipient of the `Jewel of Manipuri Cinema` award 2015.
A press release of MSPM has said that the function was held at Science Seminar Hall, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong on June 14 at 1:30 p.m.
The chief guest of the function was Aribam Syam Sharm, while a filmmaker and artist of Meghalaya, Raphael Warjari was the guest of honour.
The function was presided over by the president of MSPM, Yengkhom KB.
Aribam Syam Sharma was given a citation and a shawl by advisor of MSPM, Rajamani Nongthomba, it said.
The function also included a screening of the Manipuri film `Ishanou`, a film directed by A Syam Sharma, on occasion of the Silver Jubilee of the film which was produced in 1990. The screening was followed by a panel discussion where Syam Sharma answered queries and questions from the participants that included filmmakers, artistes, including scholars from abroad, it said.
