IMPHAL, June 22: In a surprising turn of event today, two students, involved in a verbal conflict with a Village Defense Force personnel, snatched the service weapon of the personnel and handed it over to the concern district Superintendent of Police.
The incident occurred about a hundred meter from the Imphal East district police headquarter near the Porompat Water Supply along the Lambui Road.
Sources informed that some VDF personnel on frisking and checking duty at the spot stopped the two students for checking.
During the exercise, a VDF personnel gave his mobile phone to the students and asked them to dial a number at which the students replied that they were in a hurry and ask him not to act in that manner, sources said.
This resulted in a verbal argument between the two students and the VDF personnel, however, when the students saw that the personnel was unable to even hold his service rifle properly, they snatch it and took it to the SP, Imphal East, sources added.
