IMPHAL, June 4: The United Naga Council (UNC) has appreciated the decision of the Mao Council to lift its indefinite economic blockade along NH-2 with immediate effect following the intervention of Naga Hoho, UNC and NPO, Senapati on the issue of Dzuko Valley that had cropped up between the two Naga families in the recent past.

A press release of the UNC has stated that appeal has been made to the SANPO and Mao Council to reciprocate each other and refrain from aggravating the situation and also it appealed to all to promote peace and harmony in the spirit of brotherhood and neighbourhood and in the larger interest of the Nagas.

Every Naga Village republic shared traditional boundaries with neighbouring villages. Traditional boundaries are respected and honoured till today since time immemorial and it is their bounden duty to uphold ones principle of traditional values and practices. Any disputes arising out of such matters within the Naga Family are traditionally and amicably settled through mutual trust and understanding without outside intervention/interference, it said.

Manipur State sponsored valley based civil societies should desist its interference in the internal affairs of the Naga family by imposing bandh/blockade in Naga areas in near future. In case of such events, the Government of Manipur should be held responsible for any untoward consequences.

It is also reiterated that the 3rd Naga Peoples`™ Convention (NPC) held on July 1, 2010 at Tahamzam, Senapati had declared severance of political ties with the communal Government of Manipur and demanded Alternative Arrangement outside the Government of Manipur pending Indo-Naga political settlement thus, outsiders are advised not to interfere in the affairs of the Naga family, it said.
