IMPHAL, July 6: In all cases have been registered against 187 police personnel and nine have been dismissed from service for involvement in various criminal activities during the period 2012-2015, the Deputy Chief Minister who also holds the Home portfolio, Gaikhangam told the Manipur Legislative Assembly today.
The Deputy Chief Minister was answering to a question raised by NPF MLA, Samuel Risom, who asked the Home Minster to clarify on the `number of State forces (Police, MR, VDF, Commandos) involved in criminal activities from 2012 to 2015 and the measure/disciplinary action taken to check such activities?`
The minister further said departmental inquiries are underway against the 187 personnel against whom FIRs had been lodged. Of them, one JCO of the 1st IRB, a head constable and seven rifleman have been dismissed from service.
Responding to a question by ruling party MLA, Dr. Ng. Bijoy Singh, Health and Family Welfare minister, Phungzathang Tonsing clarified that of the many private hospital in the state, Suba Hospital and Assisted Reproductive Centre, Lamphel; Shija Hospitals and Research Centre, Langol; Sky Hospital and Research Centre; and Raj Medicity, North AOC are empanelled with the government.
Answering another question from the same MLA, the minister said there is already a private hospitals, namely Shija Hospitals and Research Centre, which has applied for permission to do kidney and cornea transplants. He added the government is considering granting the permission soon.
