IMPHAL, July 13: The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) which is leading the mass agitation demanding implementation of ILPS in the state has appealed to the people to extend full support to its proposed 14-hour general strike with effect from 5 am of tomorrow.
Electricity, water supply, religious procession, media and medical services are not covered by the strike which was imposed in protest against the government`™s failure to withdraw the Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers Bill, 2015 and its replacement by another effective bill to safeguard the indigenous people from the alarming rate of influx of non-locals into the state.
The committee also cautioned to launch different forms of intense agitation along with the public if the government fails to come up with a firm stand on passing a strong bill in place of MRVT & MW Bill during the proposed emergency Assembly session on July 15.
