Miscreants tried to set school ablaze

THOUBAL, July 10: Unidentified miscreants tried to burn down the Kakching High School which was previously known as the Kakching Girls`™ High School located at Kakching Wairi.

Around 12:30am of the intervening night of July 9 and 10, the chowkidar found that a classroom door and a blackboard were already charred and that a window had already caught on the fire.

It is also found that the miscreants had entered the classrooms by breaking a wall and lighted the fire from inside the classroom.

Petrol soaked bread loaves were also found glued to the walls of the classrooms.

According to the school headmaster, Nongmaithem Radhamohon Singh the school was established in 1972.

He said since its establishment, the school had never faced any such destructive action.

The principal, staff and students have also expressed heartfelt sorrow at the action.

The Kakching Police has been informed of the incident, he said.
