IMPHAL, Jul 8: In the wake of the land encroachment at Dzuko Valley by Nagaland and wrong information provided in the textbooks prescribed by NBSE that Siroi Lily is found only in Nagaland, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that the boundary and integrity of the state should be protected by its people collectively.
The CM was responding to queries raised by MLAs while putting up Demand No 45 `“ Discussion and Voting on Demands for Grants, 2015-16 for Tourism during the ongoing 11th Session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly today.
He made it clear that boundary map of every state is in the hands of Surveyor General of India and said that the state does not want even an inch of land belonging to neighbouring states including Nagaland, Mizoram and Assam for whatsoever.
The state also does not want to engage in slugfest with neighbouring states over land dispute. It is the sole responsibility of Surveyor General of India to resolve boundary dispute between two states, he said.
Pledging that not even an inch of land of the state will be sacrificed at any cost, Ibobi assured that the government will inspect the Dzuko Valley to resolve the deadlock over the land encroachment at the earliest.
The government is putting earnest efforts to develop the tourism sector of the state, he maintained, adding that the power sector of the state has improved considerably.
The CM asserted that other states have expressed desire to follow suit of Manipur when it comes to improving tourism and power sector within a short period of time.
As far as further improvement in the power sector of the state is concerned, the government will not make advance claim in prior instead the people will be left to decide the drastic change in the sector which will take place by March, 2016, he enjoined.
