One of two brothers shot at dies; local mob sets ablaze accused nephew`s house

IMPHAL, July 1: Kh Krishnamohon, one of the two brothers who were shot at by their nephew yesterday at Naoremthong Khullem succumbed to his bullet injury today, resulting in a mob attacking the nephew`™s house and setting it on fire along with vehicles and household items.

Krsihnamohan who was hit in his upper thigh succumbed today at 5:15 am at the Shija Hospital and Research Institute.

Post mortem was conducted today at the RIMS Morgue, however, the JAC formed in connection to his death has decided that the body will not be accepted unless the perpetrator Khulem Jiten, who is absconding is arrested.

It is also learnt that the condition of the other brother Priyobarta has improved much and he has been shifted to the ward for further treatment from the ICU at the Shija hospital.

In the meantime, soon after getting information of the death of Krishnamohon, an angry mob ransacked Kh Jiten`™s house and set ablaze the house along with his Scorpio jeep, two-wheeler and a generator.

However, a fire service team also arrived at the scene and tried to douse the fire.

Later, the angry locals led by the JAC staged a sit in protest along the Uripok-Kangchup road by blocking half of the road.

The JAC also took several resolutions including expelling Jiten from the locality and any family found supporting Jiten.

It may be mentioned that Khulem Priyabanta alias Nungshitombi, 54, of Naoremthong Khulem Leikai and his younger brother Kh Krishnamohon, 42 were shot at by their nephew Khulem Jiten for interfering in his quarrel with his father Kendrajit yesterday.
