New Delhi, Jul 16 (MIC): The idea of making masses introduced with unique collection of a Museum by the inter Museum collaboration series is taking shape with inauguration of the `Paubi Lai-The Story of a Giant Python`™ Single object exhibition mounted by Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal in collaboration with National Museum, New Delhi from 21st July to 31st August, 2015 at Special Exhibition Hall-I of the National Museum, New Delhi.
`Paubi-Lai`™ is a 21 ft. long wooden object collected from Meitei people of Manipur by the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya in the year 2002. It is not only the artistic or creative manifestation of artists but also denote the world view of Meitei community.
Focusing on a particular object this exhibition is one of its own kind in many ways that through this an attempt has been made to make people introduced with a strong socio-religious belief of Meitei community of Manipur.
Supported by nearly 29 illustrations of the story of Poubi Lai by Meitei artists Poubi-Lai is visualisation of its creators dream as also the exhibition is a humble attempt or an example of the team work of Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya for taking Museum to the communities in such way. It is a beginning of new inter-institutional alliance.
