IMPHAL, Jul 13: Students of Ananda Higher Secondary School have today demanded termination of the police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood on July 8.
Sapam Robinhood a class XI student of the school succumbed at a hospital after being injured in police action during a student rally on July 8.
Ananda Higher Secondary School students`™ union general secretary Surjit Sagolsem said the police personnel involved in the killing of the class XI student should be terminated immediately.
He was speaking at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club today.
Surjit also lamented that the State Chief Minister has maintained a silence and never even spoke a work of condolence on the death of the student.
Robinhood, he said was killed during a peaceful student protest demanding the withdrawal of the Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants & Migrant Workers Bill, 2015.
The police conduct to control the small students on the day was too much, he said before adding that the police personnel shot at Robinhood from a close range.
The police action is a barbaric act and calls for termination, he said.
He said the students of the school continue to support the movement demanding ILPS or a similar law in the State.
