CHANDEL, August 30: After normal supply of power in about seven villages of Chandel district headquarters came to a grinding halt for almost 20 days due to damage of transformer near Chandel SDO Office, the newly formed JAC on Electricity Consumers Welfare Programme (ECWP) Chandel District headquarters has appealed MSPCL to replace the defected transformer with a new one having higher voltage at the earliest.
Addressing media persons in Chandel today, secretary of the JAC Ts Caleb informed that the committee consisting of seven members was formed during a meeting held at Japhou Market Shed on August 29.
He said that the committee was formed with the sole objective of ensuring welfare of electricity consumers in the district.
He further informed that the meeting unanimously elected Js Angam, Ts Caleb, Ht. Pollingson, Ht. Dromishing, Wng Thumthung, Francis and Sk. Sunny as its chairman, secretary and members respectively.
Lamenting that many electricity consumers in some sections of Japhou Bazar, Hnahringkhu, Soland, Riverlane, Panchai, Abungnikhu and Abungnikhu have not been getting power due to blow of transformer resulting from electrical overload, the JAC secretary mooted for replacement of the same with a new one having higher voltage to avoid similar damage in future.
