CPI, MPP flay NSCN (IM)-GOI peace accord

IMPHAL, August 7: The Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council has condemned the Indo-Naga Peace Accord agreement signed between NSCN (IM) and Government of India, contending that the contents of the agreement were not disclosed to the public.

According to a release of the party, appeal has been made to the Home Minister to disclose the contents of the agreement at the earliest to clear confusion surrounding the people.

The main objective of the party is to protect the borders of Manipur. Memorandums as well as related documents have been submitted to the Head Quarter of the party through Parliament member, comrade D. Raja and CPI Central Secretariat member in this regard. A memorandum will also be submitted to the Prime Minister as well, it said.

The party has also urged the Chief Ministers of Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh to take up a resolution regarding the issue. The CPI, Manipur State Council will stand firmly to protect the borders of the state, it said.

Manipur People`™s Party (MPP) has also condemned the Peace Accord signed between NSCN (IM) and Government of India which was done without disclosing the matter with other states.

In a statement, the party demanded to disclose the treaty to the people of Manipur. It also demanded the Chief Minister of Manipur not to remain mute on the issue.

The party also condoled the death of villagers in a massive landslide that occurred at Joumal village and prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace. It also shares grief of the bereaved family members, it said.

The MPP also mourned the sudden demise of Konsam Dijen Singh of Khundrakpam Mayai Leikai who worked as a helper at the office of the party.

A two minutes silence was observed at the party office on August 7 at 1 pm presided over by party president, N. Sobhakiran Singh. The party also prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace in heaven, it said.

The party also lamented that the death of K. Dijen, who was an honest and brave man will leave behind a void which cannot be filled. It also shares grief of the bereaved family members, the release said.
