IMPHAL, Aug 12: All Manipur Petroleum Tankers`™ Drivers`™ Union (AMPTDU) and All Manipur Petroleum Transporters`™ Association (AMPTA) handed over a sum of Rs 10, 000 to the family of Sapam Robinhood alias Thoi at Khurai Lairikyengbam Leikai today.
President of AMPTDU Bhupenchandra Ghose and secretary of AMPTA A Deven were present while handing over the money to the deceased`™s family members.
Along with observing a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul, representatives of the union and association also share grief of the bereaved family.
It may be mentioned that Sapam Robinhood was reading in Class XI at Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy. The young student died after his face was hit by a rubber bullet fired by police during a protest staged on July 8 demanding introduction of Inner Line Permit System in the State.
A Joint Action Committee christened as the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Sapam Robinhood alias Thoi was formed in connection with the killing.
His dead body is being preserved at JNIMS morgue following refusal by the JAC to accept the body till ILPS or similar is implemented in the State.
