Injured ILPS protestor shifted to Guwahati hospital

IMPHAL, August 12: Samom Nanao Singh, 17 son of Late S Inaocha Singh of Uripok Huidrom Leikai in Imphal West, who suffered injuries on his right eye after being hit by a tear gas shell fired by police while taking part in an ILPS agitation on August 5, has been admitted to a hospital in Guwahati today for further treatment.

Earlier he was treated in the ENT Ward of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).

Due to the injuries, Nanao has lost vision of his right eye.

Right after he was discharged from the RIMS Hospital this evening, he was taken to Srimanta Sankardev Netralaya Hospital at Beltola, Guwahati.

As informed by family members of Nanao, treatment on him has been started by doctors soon after he was admitted to the hospital.

Prior to his departure, president of All Manipur Petroleum Tankers Drivers`™ Union (AMPTDU) Bhupenchandra Ghose and secretary of All Manipur Petroleum Transporters`™ Association (AMPTA) A Deven handed over an amount of Rs 5, 000 to Nannao to be used in his treatment.

Representatives of the union and association also prayed for his speedy recovery.
