IMPHAL, Aug 4: The JCILPS Women Wing has denounced the manner in which school girls were treated by the police when they went to surrender their books to the Education minister yesterday.
`The conduct of the police personnel towards the students is evident of their disrespect for women` alleged Naorengbam Nganbi, convenor of the JCILPS Women Wing during a press meet at the United Peoples Front office today.
Three students namely Bidya Laxmi, Surmala and Milton were arrested yesterday and later released after our intervention, she said.
It is unfortunate that the police reacted so rudely to formation of human chain by the market vendors in support of the ILP movement today, she remarked.
We demand suspension of the police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood to facilitate the judicial enquiry, she said.
The women wing reiterated their solidarity to the ILP movement and announced their support for the 48 hours general strike called from 6pm of 4 August.
