KANGPOKPI, August 26: The Kuki Students`™ Organization and Thadou Students`™ Association of Sadar Hills today jointly expressed strong discontentment on the Social Welfare Department for their alleged manipulation of Wheat Based Nutrition Programme in the district.
A joint statement of the student bodies signed by president of KSO Sadar Hills Thangminlen Kipgen and president of TSA Sadar Hills Lunmang said that KSO Sadar Hills and TSA Sadar Hills are the apex student organizations in the district, which are looking after every scheme for proper implementation since the past many years.
It continued that the Wheat Based Nutrition Programme (WBNP) under Social Welfare Department has completely been neglected and manipulated by the concerned department in the district.
Implausibly the two student bodies have found after scrupulous enquiry that only half quarter of the rice allocation under WBNP Scheme for the year 2014-15 (Quarter I, II, III and IV) and 2015-16 (Quarter I & II) have reached the Anganwadi Centres, the statement pointed out, adding that the Ministry allocation per Anganwadi Centre is supposed to be much more than the distribution made so far.
It further lamented that as the project wise allocation is made by the Social Welfare Department, the department should not dissipate to produce the project wise allocation.
The statement also warned that the two student bodies will sooner or later seek intervention of the concerned Ministry if the concerned department fails to produce the debauched morsel on time.
