IMPHAL, Aug 30: Pradhan of Wabagai Gram Panchayat, Thoubal district has fervently appealed to the government to provide relief materials to the farmers and fishermen of Wabagai whose paddy fields and fish farms have been badly affected by the recent flood caused due to incessant shower of rain.
According to the Pradhan, most of the paddy fields north of Sekmai River have been submerged in rain water compelling the farmers to reel under intense hardship.
Fish farms at Wabagai village no 66 and 2 (A) Kharungpat are still flooded with water affecting large quantity of fish reared in it. As the rain water has spoiled the fish farms, fishermen have been pushed to the wall, anticipating how the ban loan will be repaid, the Pradhan said.
