IMPHAL, Aug 21: Supporting the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS)-led mass movement demanding introduction of ILPS or similar law in the State to secure the indigenous people from the huge inflow of non-locals, students of Kakching Higher Secondary School, Thoubal district in front of the school today.
The protest demonstration was held under the aegis of Students`™ Union of Kakching Higher Secondary School.
The student protestors shouted slogans such as `Implement ILPS in Manipur at the earliest`™, Punish those police personnel behind the killing of Sapam Robinhood`™, `Allow students to study peacefully`™ etc during the protest demonstration.
Meanwhile, the Social Workers`™ Congress, Khongman and Meeyamgi Yaipha Nupi Lup, Khongman handed over a sum of Rs 5000 each to Sapam Robinhood family and JAC Khurai, and a sum of Rs 8,500 each to Help Line, JNIMS and Help Line, RIMS today.
According to a press statement, the two bodies resolved to continue the mass movement until the government pass a Bill that will assure implementation of ILPS in the State. It further said that the entry of non-locals in Khongman Zone 4 and Zone 5 will be banned starting from today, said a press release of the Social Workers`™ Congress Khongman.
