IMPHAL, August 29: A six-months long Skill Upgradation and Livelihood Generation of Underprivileged Women in Manipur was inaugurated today at a private residence at Wangkhei Koijam Leikai with support from the Dorf Ketal Chemicals, Mumbai.
The inaugural function held at the residence of Sougaijam Bhuvaneshwor was attended by District Fisheries Officer H Biramani Singh as president.
Around 25 trainees mainly underprivileged women are expected to took part in the programme.
Speaking at the function, Biramani said Kouna products can provide employment to the under privileged women.
He said the kouna variety of Manipur is better in quality than those found in other States of the country.
He appealed to the trainees to get proper knowledge and training during the six-month long programme and produce items which could be exported outside the State.
