IMPHAL, Aug 24: The Manipur State Commission for Women has urged the State government to take legal action against the police officer who had pulled the hair of a girl student protesting for ILP on August 3.
The commission has also urged the State government to provide the name and details of the police officer involved in the incident.
A statement of the commission said it strongly condemn the undesirable attitude of the responsible police officer who tortured the girl student of Ibotonsana Girls`™ Higher Secondary School on August 3 while she was agitating demanding the ILP.
It said pulling hair of a girl is undesirable in any society.
In this connection, the MSCU has also registered a case for making an inquiry into the matter because it is a crime against women, it said.
The commission has also submitted a copy of the commission`™s finding today to the State government and urged the government to provide the name of the said police officer for inquiry.
It is also decided to make a field visit to the residence of the victim girl protestor, the statement said.
It may be mentioned that the police officer had pulled the hair of a girl student who was protesting outside the Secretariate building on August 3 with other students .
