Thanks giving program welcomes GOI-NSCN (IM) peace accord

IMPHAL, August 19: Welcoming the framework agreement of `The Naga Peace Accord`™ recently signed between Government of India and NSCN (IM) on August 3, the Eastern Liangmai, Manipur has organized a `Thanks Giving Program`™ at Makhen Village today.

Speaking on the occasion, president of NPF Manipur Unit Awangbou Newmai said that the `framework agreement` marked a history which will pave the way for permanent peace for all.

He stated that as peace is the most valuable assets of all human kind, everyone should welcome the peace accord.

“™We welcome the Naga Peace Accord and with prayer we will continue to support until the last ink of the peace accord`, he said.

Awangbou Newmai also fervently appealed to all people of the State not to make any false statement regarding the peace accord that will create communal misunderstanding among the communities.

The steps taken up by Government of India and NSCN-IM are not only for the benefit of a single community but for all, he said, adding that both leaders find the principal solution which will be mutually acceptable by all.

Social worker and ex-president of Liangmei Naga Council (LNC) MI John who was present at the function expressed his unflinching support, solidarity and appreciation to the collective leadership of Yaruiwo Isak Chishi Swu and Ato Kilonser Th Muivah for inking the historic peace accord.

The function was also attended by M Panamthinang, secretary of LNC Senapati Zone; Kaidet, Pastor of Insak B/church; R Machundoubou, president of LNC and R Winilungbou, president of Eastern Liangmei.

During the function, a silent prayer was also observed as a mark of respect to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Naga cause.

People from 30 villages including village chiefs, leaders of several civil organizations, students and pastors were also present at the programme.

To mark the occasion, several dance troops presented traditional dances.

Meanwhile, the Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) has congratulated Isak Chisi Swu, chairman of NSCN-IM, Thuingaleng Muivah, general secretary of NSCN-IM and other leaders for the fact that the Naga national entity has been enhanced greatly with its rich cultural heritage and historical uniqueness as an entity in the contemporary global scenario.

The preliminary `Framework Agreement` inked on 03-08-2015 between the Government of India and NSCN-IM`™s Government of the People`™s Republic of Nagalim should be appreciated by all section of people and we welcome any peace accord for good, a statement of the organisation said.

The people of Northeast have been suffering from political conflicts and violence, it said. They have been longing for peace and development in the region, it added.

The wisdom on the part of the Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic Republic of India should be recognized for the peaceful co-existence, it said. And it should be truly respect in letter and spirit of the `Unity in Diversity`. The NSCN (IM) leaders on the other hand, shall be appreciated for rational thought as another landmark towards the attainment of the age-old struggle of Nagaraj movement by signing a historic peace accord, it said.

The NDA Government led by a dynamic leadership of honest and pragmatic character deserves a high applause from all, and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, the External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, R.N Ravi and other senior leaders also deserved praise for their integrity and wisdom reflected.

We sincerely hope that this Peace Accord of 2015 will bring peace, harmony and development to the Northeastern region in general and Naga inhabited areas particularly. We also feel that the factional clashes and bloodshed amongst the Naga armed groups would end by this peace accord, it said.
