IMPHAL, Sept 15: Manipur Network of Positive People (MNP+), Vihaan Project would has extended heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Laishram Ranbir Singh, Head of Department, Pediatrics, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for his compassion in providing financial support to children who are living with HIV since the last three years and also for supporting in organizing free health camps and drawing competition for Children living with HIV in Manipur.
A statement of Manipur Network of Positive People (MNP+) said the network believes that if more people like Dr. Laishram Ranbir singh, comes forward and extend support in the State, more children affected/infected with the virus can have increased access to good health and quality life and that treatment for children will be greatly improved which will result in commendable reduction in the child mortality rate in the State.
It lamented that inspite of the government providing free medicine and testing facility available for children who are living with HIV many of these children living are facing many challenges in terms of their education, treatment, nutrition, and most importantly emotional, moral and psychological supports especially for those children who are orphans.
Many of these PLHIV orphans are still in need for a proper shelter and guardians who can guide them in terms of treatment, education, and nutrition. Besides the support from the government sector, we still need individuals or groups who are ready to support children to help them lead a quality lifestyle, the statement added.
