IMPHAL, September 4: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee secretary Jotin Waikhom today charged the ex-MLA of Thangmeiband constituency Kh Joykishan of misusing the MLA Local Area Development Fund amounting to Rs one crore and PDS items allocated for the constituency by the CAF&PD.
He was speaking at a meeting held at his Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai residence.
Jotin demanded an open debate with the ex-MLA on the development funds meant for the constituency at any given point of time.
He continued the Congress Youth Committee should take a major role in sensitizing the public about the mal-practices of the ex MLA.
He further urged the people to cast their votes by properly selecting their leader for the development and growth of Thangmeiband constituency.
The people should be wise enough to elect the right person as their representative in the upcoming election, he continued.
He said the road conditions in the constituency has only deteriorated and other contract works have all failed as the contract works are awarded to the firm owned by the ex-MLA.
PDS rice quota for the month of June and July have been misused for his own benefit by Joykishan, charged Jyotin Waikhom.
He said that the former MLA lacks moral responsibility which will not bring any social development and growth in the area.
Meanwhile, a sit in protest against the siphoning off of PDS items of Thangmeiband A/c was staged at the community hall of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai Panthoibi Sanglen organised by Consumer Welfare Committee, Thangmeiband.
