IMPHAL, Sept 22: The Tribal Youth Council, Manipur has strongly condemned the raid carried out by Manipur Police Commando at Berean Lodge, Deulahland, in search of the executive member of the tribal frontal organization, ATSUM and ANSAM.

In a statement, the TYCM said it is unfortunate that the police forces that are supposed to protect the law and order of the land carried out such unexpected raid. It said such conduct of the police force is not acceptable in every circumstance in the civilized society and demanded the State government to ensure the constitutional right of freedom to every community without bias.

Such attempt to arrest tribal students`™ leaders will never solve the problems prevailing in the State but instead it will add fuel to the burning fire. Such arbitrary raid carried out by the Police Commando once again manifests that the government is guided by the communal agenda not by the rule of law, the statement asserted.

Saying that TYCM seriously contemplated on this matter and observed that such attitude of the police force after the killing of nine tribal in Churachandpur will escalate communal disharmony in the State, the council added that this episode of hunting the tribal youth is not only against the executive member of ATSUM and ANSAM but against the tribal society as a whole.
