IMPHAL, October 30: 40 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) distributed stationery items to Disabled Children of Moidang Pok village, under Assam Rifles Military Civic Action Programme on October 28, said a press release by PRO, IGAR (South).
It said, stationery items were presented to the students in presence of Village Head Dh. Mani Leima, to help the disabled students of the village to scale new heights in the field of education and also to reach out to the populace in far flung areas.
During the interaction, disabled children and locals highlighted the support and co-operation extended by the Assam Rifles and Assam Rifles assured maximum possible help and support for the education and sports of the students, said the press release.
Meanwhile, 12 BIHAR Regiment of 9 Sector AR organized a quiz competition for students of Azad English Public School, Maitram on October 29, said the press release.
It said, 65 Students participated and around 150 students witnessed the event and the competition was organized with the aim of promoting general awareness and inculcating reading habits in the students.
Prizes were distributed to the winners jointly by the Commander, Tulihal Post and Y. Rupinder, Principal of Azad English Public School, Maitram. The Principal and staff of Azad English Public School gave their vote of thanks and expressed their gratitude towards Indian Army and 12th Battalion the Bihar Regiment in particular, said the press release.
Moreover, 41 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector Assam Rifles provided transportation for conduct of “Know Your Town” study tour to students of Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Hungpung, Ukhrul from October 22 to October 24, said the press release.
It said, during the study tour, the students visited various Educational and Religious institutions in Ukhrul town, which also included a visit to Shirui peak and Sihai Phangrei.
The press release has also said that Battalions of 28 Sector Assam Rifles have been organizing a series of Awareness Lectures in its area of responsibility, said the press release.
It said, the lectures on Awareness against Drug Abuse were organized by 22 Assam Rifles at Kakching, Sugnu and Pangaltabi, and over 500 students were reached and sensitized about the ills of Drug Abuse.
In another connected event, 29 Assam Rifles organised a drive against poppy cultivation at Joupi, and farmers of neighboring areas were called and made aware of the ills of poppy cultivation, said the press release.
