IMPHAL, October 25: Womenfolk play an important role in the Manipuri society and they are not less than any male, but the number of women in the State Assembly is very less, BJP Mahila Morcha Manipur Pradesh president RK Pramodini said today.
She was speaking at a one day political conference of women organised in connection to the birth anniversary of Raj Mata Vijaya Raje Scindia by the Women for Social Change Singjamei at Singjamei Community Hall.
She said that it is right time to encourage women`™s involvement in politics as the Assembly has given reservation for women.
She said the State also needs a women seat reservation policy.
The guest of honour of the function Dr Binota president Women for Social Change said it is not the time when woman can be ignored as the weaker section.
The world over, women is taking more responsibility that men in the development of society, she said.
The Dean of Social Science Prof E Bijoykumar, Prof Rajendro Kshetri Deprtment Social Sociology, State Executive Member of BJP Mahila Morcha Shantibala were also present at the meeting.
