AR apprehends UG cadres, distributes Solar Lights

IMPHAL November 15: Troops of the 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended one woman cadre of UNLF at Khudengthabi check post on November 10, said a press release by PRO, IGAR (South)

It said, the woman was travelling in a Maruti Van bearing Registration Number MN 01A 7265 and heading towards Imphal, and she was identified as SS No 2345, Pvt Miss Suny alias Thadoi, 22, daughter of Mutun Singh of Oinam, PS – Nambol, District – Bishnupur. One Mobile phone and a Voter identity card were recovered from her possession and she has been handed over to the Moreh Police Station along with the recovered items, said the press release.

In another day, 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles organised a lecture on “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” at Ril Ram Centre Village on November 13, said the press release.

It said, the lecture was emphasized on maintaining a clean atmosphere and adverse effect of littering and spitting were highlighted in local language to make them understand better. The programme was attended by 65 villagers including women and children of Ril Ram Centre Village, the event culminated with a pledge to be a part of the ongoing campaign for a healthy tomorrow.

Moreover, troops of the 22 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector Assam Rifles along with Thoubal Police Commandos established a joint vehicle check post in general area Kakching Khunou Lamkhai and apprehended an active cadre of PREPAK (PRO) on November 14, said the press release.

It said, the person was identified as No 0622, Angom Ibotombi Singh, 26, son of Angom Brojen Singh of Kakching Khunou, Thoubal, and he has been handed over to the Waikhong Police Station.

Meanwhile, 45 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles distributed Solar Lights to the village community of Takhel village under Sawombung Sub-division in Imphal East district as part of the Assam Rifles Civic Action Project on November 14, said the press release.

It said, the project will facilitate the electrification of streets in the village and give the village a secure environment during the night.

The Solar Lights were handed over by Second-in-command of 45 Assam Rifles to the village community of Takhel in a ceremony organised at the village, and the ceremony was attended by the Zila Parishad member T. Ratan Singh, Village Pradhan T.S. Priyo Devi and Social worker Y. Gautam Singh along with the local club members, said the press release.
