CHURACHANDPUR, November 14: The JAC Churachandpur has said the funeral of the nine `Tribal Martyrs`™ is proposed to be held within the month of November.
The Joint Action Committee Against Anti-Tribal Bills (JAC) had earlier requested the Central government to intervene in the imbroglio that was witnessed as a result of the passing of the three anti-tribal Bills, namely, the Protection of Manipur People Bill, 2015; the Manipur LAND Revenue and Land Reforms (Seventh Amendment) BUI, 2015 and the Manipur Shops and Establishment Bill (Second Amendment) Bill 2015, said a statement of the JAC.
It said at the behest of the observer sent by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ashok Prasad, Secretary (Internal Security), a joint delegation team comprising of the Coordination Committee: All Tribal Students` Union Munipur (ATSUM). the Joint Action Committee Against Anti-Tribal Bills (JAC) and the Manipur Tribal* Forum Delhi (MTFD) went to Delhi and met with the Home Minister and other officials of the Ministry of Home A flairs
It said as requested by the joint delegation, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a press release on November 9 giving their assurance that in matters relating to the three anti-tribal Bills, all stakeholders including the Manipur Government, the hill and valley people and other interested parties will be consulted before arriving at any decision.
Now, with the Ministry of Home Affairs having given their assurance in writing, the JAC, in its joint meeting with the innpis/tribe councils made the following resolutions today.
The resolutions are that the funeral program of the nine Tribal Martyrs is proposed to be held within the month of November 2015, the date and time for the program will be finalized at a joint meeting convened by the innpis/tribe councils and the nine will be buried with the highest dignity and honour at the site donated by the Autonomous District Council, Churachandpur at ADC Complex, Bungmual.
