Hajmad JAC temporarily calls off bandh

IMPHAL, Nov 9: The JAC formed against the killing of Md Hajmad Ali alias Babu of Keirao Makting Awang Leikai, has temporarily suspended its call of a 72-hour State-wide bandh from 5 am of November 10 in view of Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba festival.

The 72-hour bandh was called by the JAC in pursuance of its demands served in connection with the killing of Md Hajmad, school headmaster who was beaten to death by a mob over the alleged charges of stealing a calf.

Talking to this daily, convener of the JAC Md Rajauddin announced that the bandh has been temporarily called off up to November 13 in view of Diwali and Ningol Chakouba festival.

He said that the JAC relaxed the agitation considering every communities of the State.

The JAC had met with leaders of other organizations in this regard, the convener said.

He warned that the JAC will resort to launch more intense agitation if the conditions put up to the Police Department are not met at the earliest.
