IMPHAL, November 15: The JAC formed in connection with the alleged killing of Md Hasmad Ali has imposed a 48hour state-wide general strike from 5am of November 16 till 5am ofNovember 17 to protest the failure of the government to fulfil their charter of demands.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet convened at Keirao Youth Club, Keirao Major Ingkhol JAC`™s spokespersons, MI Khan, revealed that the decision was taken during a public meeting held at Keirao Makting Youth Club this morning owing to the failure of the state government to fulfil its demands submitted in the form of a memorandum submitted to CM and Deputy CM on November 3.
MI Khan expressing his disappointment over the indifferent attitude of the Government warned to intensify its agitation if their demands are not materialised at the earliest.
He further appealed all the civil bodies, meira paibis to extend their co-operation.
Declaring Md Amu, who has been arrested by Police in connection with the incident, as the mastermind, is one of the demands of the JAC.
After the announcement of the strike, the JAC also convened a joint meeting at AMMUCOC office attended by representatives of AMMSO, UMWDO, MMWO, ANJUMAN, AMMUCOC and MCM later after the announcement of the strike.
During the meeting the six organisations unanimously resolved to extend their full co-operation to the JAC movement.
