IMPHAL, November 20: The International Observation Committee on Puya Meithaba (ICOP) will observed the 287th Puya (ancient book of scriptures or sacred) Meithaba at Pangthou Esaikonung on February 1, 2016.
Speaking to media persons during a press briefing, convener of ICOP, Naoroijam Tomba said during the observation the committee has decided to announce `Panthou`™ as the living Puya of Manipur.
Elaborating on the reason to announce Panthou as a living Puya, he said Panthou clearly follows the ancient tradition, culture and there is many more things which we can learn from him about our culture and tradition.
He further said that the naming of living Puya can only be given to those who posses the true spirit of God.
Puyas is the fountainhead of wisdom of the Manipuri people which was burnt down with an intention to exterminate the soul of Manipur, he added.
Now it`™s the time for the people to wake up and research intensively on the Puyas, he added.
