IMPHAL, November 8: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh said it would be wrong on the part of the public to strengthen communal parties like the BJP in the State.

Such parties will only hinder development works in the State, Ibobi said speaking at a one day political conference for Congress candidate Bijoy Koijam of Thongu Constituency.

The one day conference was held at the Ucheckon Laikon Community Hall.

Ever since the BJP led NDA came to power in the Centre, several problems have been created in different States, he continued.

The NDA has at the same time failed to fulfil their promises made to the public before the elections, the he said.

The Chief Minister continued that although the State government has appealed to the Centre to disclose the details of the NSCN (IM) accord, the Centre is yet to do so.

The Centre’s interlocutor for the talks held between the Centre and the NSCN (IM) RN Ravi has already visited the State on two occasions, but he has also not disclosed any details of the accord, Ibobi said.

However, the State government will always maintain its firm stand to safeguard the territorial and emotional integrity of the land, he added.

Ibobi further urged the people to vote for the Congress candidate for more development of the State.

He said his government will put all efforts to bring development in the constituency during the remaining one year before the 2017 general election.

Congress candidate Bijoy Koijam said his opponents are spreading false and baseless lies about him regarding the seizure of a truck containing PDS items.

He said items in the truck were not for his own consumption but to be distributed to the public.

He further urged the people not be swayed by the false propaganda of his opponent and to know their candidates before casting their votes.

People should know the difference between the Congress and the other parties, he said highlighting some activities he had undertaken in the constituency during his tenure.
