KANGPOKPI, November 7: “Parents are busy in their professions and find no time to visit the schools and take interest in child`s progress which renders them in the dark about the performance and the problems of their child”, said Rev. Fr. Joseph K.S. SDB, Rector, Don Bosco, Maram.
Rev Fr Joseph was speaking at the Parents’ Day celebration of Saint Francis de Sale (SFS), Daili village in Sadar Hills where he graced the enlivening occasion as chief guest.
He maintained that parents and teachers should cooperate with each other intelligently to train child and show them the right path.
Saint Francis De Sale (SFS), Daili celebrated Parents’ Day in commemoration of recognizing, uplifting, and supporting the role of parents in the rearing of children with prompt and jollity at its Mini Stadium here today.
Rev. Fr. Joseph further said that parents need to find out the hidden potentiality of their ward and give them opportunity to develop their talents.
He also said that these days’ teachers and parents are not exposed to each other while adding that parents and teachers should associate to bring home and the school in close contact so as to promote the welfare of the children in home and community.
“Parents and teachers should also connect to discuss the performance, personal, as well as academic problems of a child and make joint efforts to solve the problems”, asserted Rev. Fr. Josephm, adding that if both parents and teacher come together, know each other, understand each other then it will help in growth and development of child`s progress.
While honoring the parents, Fr. Kurian, Principal of SFS Daili village said that we acknowledged how significant this broad range of parents is in the life of our society and recognized the stress and strain parenthood always is at some stage of a child’s development and how demanding it is for adults to stay involved and attempt to do the right thing.
“The parents to be honored today are ‘good enough’ parents who spend time with their kids, talk to their kids about the world they live in and share love with their kids”, asserted Fr. Kurian before adding that Parenthood in the 21st century is much more complex than in earlier societies.
Fr. Kurian also expressed gratitude to all parents, Daili village authority and villagers, school board, well-wishers, and teaching staffs for making the institution a pool of educational communication in the entire areas.
The celebration attended by parents and guardian of the students was marked by various cultural shows, short play, choreography, dances, etc by the students in honour of their parents.
